Tampines Chinese Temple

Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Tampines Chinese Temple collects through this donation website, why, and how we protect it, in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

What we collect

When you donate: your name, email address, the offerings you choose and the amounts. For blessing offerings, the names (and details such as date of birth, if asked for) of the people the blessing is for.

If you choose to give it: your NRIC number, so we can issue a receipt in your name. It is stored encrypted and only ever shown with the first characters hidden.

If you create an account: your name, email address and a securely hashed password, plus your mobile number and NRIC if you choose to add them. We never see or store your password itself.

We do not receive or store your bank or card details. PayNow payments go directly from your bank to the temple's bank account. Card payments are handled by Stripe, which receives your card details instead of the temple.

Why we use it

To record and confirm your donation, carry out blessing offerings, send you receipts and payment updates, answer your questions, and keep the temple's accounts as the law requires.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

Who can see it

Only authorised temple staff, who sign in with two-step verification. Every change they make is recorded.

Our website runs on Amazon Web Services in Singapore, which stores the data and sends our emails for us under contract. Stripe processes card payments and receives the details needed for them, such as your email and the amount. We may also share data where the law requires it.

Cookies

We only use cookies the website needs to work: keeping you signed in and remembering your language. Your cart is kept in your browser and cleared when you close the tab. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Donation records are kept for as long as needed for the temple's accounting and legal obligations. If you close your account, we remove your login, but keep the donation records themselves for that period.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent for us to use it. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer issue receipts or carry out offerings for you.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will reply within 30 days.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
